On 3rd December 2022, President Museveni officiated the grand opening of Shree Sahajanand School (SSSU) in Bukoto, Kampala – Uganda. The newly built private school is not only impressive with its ultra-modern infrastructure, but also assures quality education at an affordable fee, following the National Curriculum of Uganda: a long-awaited solution for parents who seek to nurture their children as global citizens with leadership qualities in a world-class learning environment.

While addressing The Press during the school opening, President Museveni remarked, “In Uganda, you have got real partners because you bring new skills and new energies, and you find our ingenious energies, and the combination brings a big achievement.”

SSSU is a non-profit educational facility donated by Hasmukh Patel, the chairman of Tororo Cement, and the Indian Shree Kutchi Leva Patel community (SKLPS) and Shree Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan Temple (SKSST) as part of their corporate social responsibility. The schools’ interest is to offer Uganda residents an opportunity to send their children to school confidently where they are nurtured with care and dedication. 

According to the School Principal, Mr Moses Kirinya, “This new school in Kampala, Uganda is designed with the philosophy to show children that we care for them and a place where they can succeed with knowledge and individuality.” The Principal has emphasized enabling students to acquire the critical skills of the 21st Century i.e. Collaboration, Critical thinking, Creativity, and Communication.

With a capacity to accommodate 1500 students, SSSU welcomes Nursery and Primary learners, and on-demand, the school has recently started its Senior one and Senior two sections. With its exceptional location in the quiet residential complex of Shree Sahajanand Complex in Bukoto, students can enjoy a distraction-free learning experience, away from busy city life.

The school boasts of a low student-teacher ratio to ensure engaged learning, club activities to improve practical learning skills, and modern facilities such as a sports arena, swimming pool, and hygienic canteen where students can enjoy nutritious meals. Other facilities include a library facility, music room, and ICT and science labs. 

“The school has come to benefit all Ugandans and not only those of Asian origin. The research will be made, we have libraries and our homework will be blended, both online and physical. We are bringing a model of education which has not been around in this country.” says Mr. Kirinya.

Since its opening in February, the school has hosted a series of events, including a chess tournament, an Easter production multicultural show, school elections, a Taekwondo competition, and academic learners session. The active participation of students in cooperation with the teachers and successful execution of events along with incredible performance in studies, is a testimony of the fulfillment of the school’s vision.
